Pat O'Neil onsite in San Miguel
Pat O'Neil founded the Loring Investment Fund in 1994.  Under Pat's leadership Loring has become a leading eco-developer on an international scale. In addition to Loring's Costa Rica activities other projects include eco-development of thousands of acres of wilderness land in northern Minnesota and Nova Scotia, Canada. Pat has appeared on CNBC-TV, Business Week Online, CBS Radio and has been featured in articles in many publications including the San Francisco Chronicle, Money Magazine and The New York Times.

In Costa Rica Loring recognizes the fundamental role of the private sector in environmentally sustainable development. Environmental issues like clean drinking water, ocean pollution, overconsumption of natural resources, and loss of tropical forests cannot be dealt with effectively without government and the private sector working together as partners. In order to advance natural resource conservation and environmentally sustainable development all stakeholders must do their part.

Developers and ultimately property owners in those developments must accept the linkage between economic and environmental issues. Witness the growing shift in preferences toward "green" products and lifestyle. In the face of these trends, blending conservation and development has become increasingly important. Under Pat O`Neil's leadership Loring has been successful because it fully understands the importance of biodiversity conservation. In Costa Rica the private sector must lead the way and assist Government to advance appropriate environmental legislation and regulation. As an eco-friendly development company, Loring is fully committed to lead by example.

Meeting eco-development criteria typically takes longer than fast track development without conservation issues. The site planning requires involves extensive environmental research. It requires patience and does best without the pressure of debt financing. The Loring Investment Fund finances its acquisitions and development costs with equity invested by hundreds of `green investors` around the globe.
