Homesite 4 is named after the 'Espavel' tree. Espavel fruit is small, juicy and sweet. Espavel bark is used often in fish marinades. This tall tree grows near rivers in low, hot climates like San Miguel. It's known as a tree in the rain forest which provides lots of shade and is home to many rain forest inhabitants because of the food and protection it offers.

The municipality of San Miguel is now building a sidewalk from the coastal road to the beach. The leisurely beach walk is one-quarter mile long. Once at the beach, visitors enjoy 3 restaurants and 2 small affordable hotels. The beach is seven miles long and crystal clean. The surf is excellent for more accomplished surfers. Surfers are encouraged to talk to the locals to pinpoint areas of rip tides. A "lights down" law restricts beach lights that disturb sea turtles. 30 feet to the South of the lots is the Eco-hotel which has 6 individual cabanas and a large swimming pool. Angelo, the owner is from Italy and has a small patio restaurant seating 30 people.
